globe-trotter

In creating a space for the new Globe-Trotter head offices, I found reference in the past, looking back to an age of romance in travel. Finding detail in the glamour and craftsmanship of ocean liners and bespoke train travel, I have created an interior that speaks to Art Deco with a hint of Colonial Raj in an updated material and colour palette.

Furnishings are luxe and bespoke. Each item is custom crafted with detailing that expresses its provenance. Elegance and glamour prevail with finishes of crystal, silk and mohair. There is a level of comfort akin to luxury rail travel where the journey was just as important as the destination.

The line between corporate and hospitality blurs with a palette of soft pale greys, creams and pops of blue contrasted with Deco whites and blacks in the most luxurious of fabrics. Jewel-like lighting in polished nickel sparkle in the sunlight streaming in from the atrium. From the nickel cabinet knobs that feature leather embossing to the door hardware that references the ziggurat rooflines of Art Deco buildings, the Globe-Trotter brand is reflected even in the smallest of details.

existing space

Located on levels 22, 23 and 24 of a coveted 6-Green Star rated building at 1 Bligh Street Sydney, the Globe-Trotter head office boasts a total floor area of over 1600m2 with panoramic views of the city and Sydney Harbour on the northern side, and the benefit of a glass atrium at the central core of the building.

client brief

Synonymous with great British design, Globe-Trotter is a luxury travel lifestyle brand producing handcrafted luggage and leather collections. In their Asia-Pacific head-office, they required a combination of open plan desks, break-out zones, offices and boardrooms plus an impressive reception and display area that reinforced the brand’s aesthetics.
